PTE Academic Scoring Matrix

Set the priority while practicing!

PTE Academic assesses listening, reading, speaking, and writing all via a computer in a single three-hour test session. During the three-hour test session, the test consists of three main parts: Speaking and Writing (together), Listening, and Reading. There are 20 different question types.

The PTE Academic assesses real-life academic English, which means you will hear extracts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers, so you will become familiar with the kinds of accents you encounter in everyday life.

Now the question becomes, “Do I need to perform better on all 20 question types to get my required score on PTE?”

And the answer is NO. We have found that students who use our PTE Academic Scoring Matrix as a guide in preparing for the test need to know which questions are important in order to score 79 or 65 in PTE
